Your destination for affordable dental implants in Newbury

The Natural Choice For Replacing Your Missing Teeth

If you are done with the discomfort of dentures – or perhaps you are facing the prospect of losing your teeth for the first time – dental implants offer the best possible solution. Created by placing titanium supports in the jaw bone, which mimic the role of a tooth root, implants look, feel, and function just like healthy, natural teeth. And that means no more compromise: with implants, you can taste, eat, smile and laugh with no discomfort or fear of embarrassment. With the right care, implants may never need to be replaced, and because they support your jaw bone, they prevent the facial sagging that missing teeth can cause. Implant treatment really can have a profound effect on your confidence and quality of life.

Implants Options At Westbrook House

Replace a single tooth. For straightforward cases, we use a single implant to support a bespoke new crown. Unlike traditional dental bridges, implants don’t require adjacent teeth to be filed down, so the overall health of your jaw is maintained in the long term.

Replace multiple teeth. When a number of adjacent teeth are missing, we can replace them conservatively using an implant-fixed bridge, so you won’t require an implant for every tooth that is missing.

Replace all your teeth. Implant technology is now so advanced, we can replace a full arch using a minimal number of implants – as few as four supporting a set of fixed bridges, or as few as two supporting a denture.

Preparing for implants. When teeth are missing, the jaw bone gradually resorbs and disappears, which means that for some patients, implants can’t be considered because there is not enough bone mass. In many cases, we can rebuild the jaw bone with bone grafting or a sinus lift, and this can sometimes be done in the same appointment as your implant placement.

    FAQs

What exactly is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a high-tech, titanium plug that replaces your tooth root. It’s surgically implanted into the jaw using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, and is made from a super-strong, biocompatible material – usually titanium – to which your jaw bone will eventually bond. Once this has happened, a prosthetic tooth can be screwed onto the implant.

Does it hurt to get implants?

No. Implant surgery is high-tech and minimally invasive – patients are often surprised at how little discomfort they experience. Implants are usually carried out under a local anaesthetic, though we also offer IV sedation in Newbury for lengthy procedures or anxious patients.

How does the dental implant procedure work?

Implants are precision-placed with the help of a computer-guided dental laser, and the procedure is so accurate that it involves the least possible trauma and a swift recovery time. Once the implant has been placed in the jaw, you will need to wait a few weeks for the integration process to take place – this is where your natural bone tissue grows around the implant, securing it in place permanently. Once integration has successfully completed, you’ll be able to return to the practice for the final fitting of your bespoke new tooth.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Because implants provide the same function, feel and look as natural teeth, it means there is no longer any compromise when it comes to eating, drinking and smiling with complete confidence. In addition, dental implants play an important role in maintaining the structure of your face: their firm position within the jawbone prevents teeth from shifting around and the jaw from shrinking – both of which cause ageing facial sagging. Implants actually improve the health of your jaw by increasing blood flow to an area that would otherwise atrophy, and unlike dental bridges (the traditional alternative to implants), don’t require adjacent teeth to be filed down.

    Are implants safe?

Yes, dental implants are a well-established treatment, supported by over 30 years of clinical evidence and a 95% success rate or higher.

How long does the implant process take?

Typically, a dental implant procedure will take around nine months altogether, from the initial assessment to the fitting of the final crown.

How quickly can I go back to work after implants?

Most patients can return to work within one or two days following implant surgery.
